I have made an attempt to stick to at least one of my New Year’s resolutions: weight loss. I went from 117 pounds to 126 pounds within two months. Sad about the fact that I had gained 9 pounds over the holiday seasons, I decided it was time to diet.  Whenever I get over 125 pounds, I tend to get over emotional and moody. My poor boyfriend, unfortunately, was victim to my weight gain rage. After whining to him, he decided he would help and support me on my weight loss goals. He even found a diet for me to try. This is my first attempt at an actual strict “diet”.

The diet he found for me to try is a “slow carb diet“, which means no white carbs. At first I was skeptical and upset at the idea of missing out on my favorite carbohydrate-heavy food. But when I tried to put on my jeans and they felt much too tight, I decided it was worth a shot.

The diet consists of mostly eating legumes, vegetables, and some type of protein. Being a huge fan on Latin food, black beans are what keeps me going on this diet. I mostly do egg whites as my protein. I haven’t stuck completely with this diet, but follow it as a guideline.

In less than a week, I had lost 3 pounds. I only worked out twice during that week. I had even cheated a few times and bought a bag of Cheez-its from the vending machine and had coffee with milk every morning. Plus, on my day off, I got to enjoy all the fattening food I wanted!  That day I consumed: a reduced-fat chocolate chip banana bread and skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks, a chocolate-filled croissant, a WHOLE bag of Cheetos, popcorn chicken, a crabcake, chips and shrimp queso, egg rolls, and a long island iced tea. I felt so sick, I was actually glad the day was over.

Current Weight: 123

Goal Weight: 114

Prank Dolphin Tramp Stamp

Yes, that is indeed a fake dolphin “tramp stamp” with very awkward squiggly lines.  This was a prank on my mom.  Yesterday my sister, a friend, and I had a girl’s day out. My sister had told my mom over the phone that we were going to go clubbing and get tattoos, though in reality we got sushi and pedicures. I decided to go with that comment, so I called my mom up to asked her for tattoo suggestions! She freaked out!! So to make it worse, my friend drew a fake “tramp stamp” on me with a sharpie. My sister took a picture and emailed it to my mom…five minutes later I get a phone call from my mom:

Mom: THAT BETTER NOT BE A TRAMP STAMP!!!

Me: It’s a tattoo on my lower back.

Mom: That better not be real!

Me: It’s really on my back.

Mom: Why would you do that?!!

Me: Cause I love dolphins!

There was more to the conversation, but I don’t remember it all word-for-word. I told her I’ll show her on Thanksgiving. So hopefully she’ll be thankful it’s not real. :P

Other than being a doofus, a lot has changed in my life; therapy, new friends, new boyfriend, and a new attitude. I took a complete blind dive into a new me.

Razer Naga MMO Mouse

Razer Naga MMO mouse

My Razer Naga mouse.

I finally decided it was time to upgrade from my cheap bipolar three button mouse that seemed to quit working randomly. I decided my best choice was the Razor Naga MMO Gaming Mouse , a mouse with 17 MMO-optimized buttons. I was originally looking at the cheaper  Razor DeathAdder, but for twenty dollars more I got 12 extra buttons. To me, worth it.

The Razer Naga allows you to switch between keybinding 123 or number pad. This is a huge deal for me, because now not only can I have my normal 123 keyboard keybindings, I can set the buttons on the mouse to the number pad for additional keybindings without taking my hand off the mouse. This may sound like too many buttons, but it really leaves me with an infinite possibility for macro customization. In World of Warcraft, it gives me the space to set healing macros for each person in my 3v3 team. Cool, no?

Here are the specs for this mouse, from the actual website:

  • 3500dpi Razer Precision 3.5G infrared sensor
  • Ergonomic right-handed design
  • 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response
  • Five independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons
  • On-The-Fly Sensitivity adjustment
  • Always-On mode
  • Ultra-large non-slip buttons
  • 16-bit ultra-wide data path
  • 60–120 inches per second and 15g of acceleration
  • Zero-acoustic Ultraslick mouse feet
  • Gold-plated USB connector
  • Seven-Foot, lightweight, braided fiber cable
  • Approximate size: 128mm (length) x 70mm (width) x 42.5mm (height)

Right now, my only complaint about this mouse is the two buttons on the top left side. They feel very awkward to me. Others have complained about small button size, but as a woman, they are perfect for my fingers.

On another note, the learning curve is not as easy as it looks. Now the thumb must also learn a bit of muscle memory. Fortunately, they include little stickys with the mouse to help with memorizing button placement.

Overall, even though I have only had it for a few days,  I recommend this mouse.

For financial aid reasons, I am required to be a full time student. In other words, to get full benefit from financial aid, I must take at least 12 credit hours.  I mentioned in an earlier post that I was accepted into the nursing (RN)  program at my school, which is absolutely a miracle except for one fact: even though it is an every day course, it is not considered full time.  Being self-dependent, I need every little scrap of financial aid I can get. I decided to talk to a counselor, who suggested I pick up a “alternative degree” in biotechnology. Yikes. Sure it sounds interesting, but as much as I had to study for chemistry alone last semester, I don’t think another science on the side would be a wise decision.

Once upon a time, I had an alternative degree in Internet Services Education focusing on web design and management. I didn’t give up on it because I disliked it, I simply had no time for it when I decided nursing would be the best choice for me. I was kinda disappointed to have to drop it. An idea suddenly came to mind: instead of going for a difficult sounding alternative degree that would never get finished, why not finish my ITE degree on the side! So in two and a half years I should have two degrees. What will I do with two completely different degrees? I’m hoping to do freelance web design in the future on the side of nursing.

Another benefit, is most ITE classes can be taken online, making it easier to deal with. I am now registered for the nursing program, graphics, and programming logic. The graphics course should be basic Photoshop and I already took programming so programming logic should be a breeze. I’m very excited to go back to school, just have to wait on the financial aid to go through now.

I recently decided I want to PVP on my mage alt, so I decided while setting up a new frost spec that I would redo my interface. I still have to fix all of the key bindings, but so far it looks way cleaner than it did originally. Ignore all of my bindings for now. Unfortunately, it is going to taking getting use to. Not only do I have to learn the new set up, but how to play frost as well.

Addons being used on this character:

  • Ag Unit Frames
  • Bartender

It is still being worked on, but so far it seems like a good start.

Kenzia moroccan argan oil

Kenzia moroccan argan oil

I don’t like to admit, but I have extremely damaged hair. My hair has been through a lot over the last 10 years: a perm, bleaching, and dye jobs. I haven’t seen my natural hair color in a decade. All this fickle change has taken a toll on the quality of hair. It feels like straw.  While aimlessly shopping at a local TJMaxx, I ran across a bottle of Kenzia moroccan argan oil. I never heard of the brand before, but I did want to try Moroccan oil. It was only $12.99, so I decided I would give it a try.

I really like this product.  It left my hair feeling very silky.  It didn’t leave my hair greasy feeling as some products do. After showering, or when your hair is damp,  just put a small amount in your hair. I try to focus on the ends of my hair the most. Avoid putting too much in your hair, as it will feel sort of greasy.

I recommend trying this product out. If you do not have a TJMaxx near you, it is on Amazon for $23.99.

My Acceptance Letter!!!
Just a quick and straight to the point post; I was accepted into the ASN nursing program! I am one step closer to becoming a registered nurse. Yesterday I had to get some immunizations and turn in financial aid papers. I had to appeal, because unfortunately I am already at 117 credit hours! I’m hoping they understand it is because of the change of majors, because I can really use the financial help while in nursing school.

cappuccino and biscotti

I must admit: I am a complete coffee addict.  Biggest weakness: lattes and cappuccino. I usually just bought the instant powdered stuff, but it still left me a little dissatisfied. The cups of instant cappuccinos never were quite strong enough for me.  I waste so much money buying coffee from cafes and it really begins to burn a whole in my pocket. Over a year ago, my sister gave me a hand me down Krups espresso machine.  I did not get the instructions with it, so I sorta set it aside. Yesterday I remembered that I owned it and decided to give it another shot. Embarrassingly enough, I had no idea how to use the froth part of the machine. But luckily, thanks to Google, I was able to find the instructions. It is SO EASY. I had to read the instructions twice, but if you follow those instructions it will come out fine. (Instead of milk, however, I used half and half.)

It was not the best cappuccino ever, but it was taste and satisfied my craving.

My wallet will thank me for this.

Bday giftsI had a great 22nd birthday! Two of my best friends came to visit me from out of town. I went out for sushi and then went bowling. I also got some neat gifts, which some pictured above. My lovely boyfriend bought me a new mixer because my last one broke, so I should be baking more! Thanks
